KATLAS – Agritech SME
SMEs are the backbone of economies around the world. Globally there are over 400million SMEs, representing around 90% of businesses and more than 50% of employment.
BEIS state that in the UK there are currently 530,000 companies exporting. According to research by Sage, another 375,000 UK SMEs have exportable goods but are not currently doing so.
If the UK were to facilitate international trade with these firms, it could unlock an annual £290billion in the economy.
Vision: KATLAS can support a new vision for International Trade – where SMEs are not alone but connected wherever they are in the world. Connected as customers or members of a club with global membership.
Problem: SMEs are struggling to export to the UK on the same terms as their bigger rivals. This is reducing choice to the consumer and price competition.
SMEs across all industries and sectors with businesses of all sizes facing many challenges, such as:
- Accessing and completing the correct regulatory forms.
- Complying with ever demanding data standards (KYC, ALM, GDPR). Issues around financing, VAT/Taxes, processing payments.
- International supply-chain logistics. Language barriers.
International trade documentation is increasingly being digitised with Blockchain providing transparency and consensus mechanisms, replacing multiple instances of verification and physical checking. The significance of DLT to SMEs, is that it enables the digital transfer of value without the need for a trusted third party.
Need: The next generation of international trade is expected to include a greater degree of computer assisted diagnostics and automated market discovery and order matching.
Governments and business need to demonstrate provenance and quality of their goods and measure, verify and report (MRV) the impact of their supply chain journey.
Government and Port Authorities need are exploring concepts and approaches for resilient freight transport and logistics networks against disruptive events (including pandemics).
Our Blockchain in a Box (BIAB) solution is vital in order to allow SMEs the opportunity, tools, and power to trade and export effectively and efficiently worldwide at a fraction of the cost.
With BIAB SMES can create, access and prescribe questionnaires necessary for fulfilment (credentials, insurances, SLAs) and monitor the IOT inputs and other authorisations and payments, along the trade journey.
SMEs can monitor crops, assets, staff credentials and IOT readings remotely using computers. SMEs can now be paid sooner for goods shipped and mitigate supply chain disruption using plug-in diagnostic tools.
